i keep reading all these threads that talk about the jws knocking on their doors.
we live in southern california and there has not been a visit at door in well over a year.
my business is on the main drag and their has not been a visit there either.
I drive by the kingdom hall in my town every week day to take my husband to work and I see the jws in the parking lot (quite a few too) getting ready to go out in service
When I drive by our local Kingdom Hall there is never anybody there and it is my understanding that three different congregations meet there.

My business is on the main drag and their has not been a visit there either. I at least see the Mormons out and about; however, they do not appear to be stopping and talking to anyone. Is it just our area or is this happening else where?
i have not, nor will go back to "meetings" after finding out how i was spiritually mislead through the years.i have actually found more comfort in doing my own studying.
my wife still goes occassionaly and her sister and brother-in-law just started going back.
so we went over there house the other night and we got into a conversation in which he said they went to the meeting today (sunday).
JW’s are quick to dismiss anything not directly supported in the Bible! They say "the word ‘Trinity’" isn’t in the Bible, therefore, a false teaching." Okay, how about "Organization?" Where is that in the Bible?
I have been waiting for this arguement to be thrown out. And ask the JW, "Don't you believe in a Theocracy?" Which should get a yes. Than ask them to show me in the Bible where Theocracy appears and if they can not shouldn't they reject it as a false teaching.

i have called many times in the past.
this time i was calling for a sister that wanted to know the truth from the society.
the brother from the information desk said they did join but realy they were tricked.
Has anyone ever noted how far apart the UN and WTBTS Headquarters are? I would guess less than 10 miles. If they were Mormons, someone could have rode their bike over and got the truth. Than they would not have been tricked.

In the 1950 NWT of the Christian Greek Scriptures the Watchtower "translators" claimed John 8:58 was in the "perfect indefinite tense". Actually, that expression did NOT refer to any Greek verbal tense, as it does not exist, but it did refer to the English verbal tense, so that accusation is a widespread misunderstanding and not true. The text in the footnote did not clear enough indicate they were speaking about the translation into English and not about the original Greek tense.
My problem with this defense is: If it were true, why did the WTS change their stand on the tense twice. If it did refered to the English verbal tense, which I have not been able to find where there is a perfect indefinite tense in English, why didn't they explain it than or anytime in between and stick with their original exclaimation with the new light of it being English verb tense not Greek?

I understand that this is not an open teaching today, but I wonder how the average Jehovah's Witness knocking at the door would deal with this if confronted with it.

It sounds to like the Society statement is one to appease governments, courts of law, and uninitiated; however, for those within there is no change and you can not vote. Would that be correct?
